How a 1,000 Mile Hike Brought Author Cheryl Strayed Closer to “Home”

Cheryl Strayed’s much anticipated and just published memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, chronicles her three-month long solo attempt to trek over 1,000 miles of the trail. Her journey was spurred by two life-changing events that occurred in 1995 when she was 22 years old—her mother’s death from cancer and the end of her marriage. Strayed hit rock bottom (don’t worry, this is not a spoiler) before setting out on her remarkable journey.
